Welcome!

Welcome to schoolmealsvt.com – a website designed to provide information and resources about school nutrition for foodservice professionals, administrators, parents, and community members. School meals provide vital nutrition for thousands of Vermont children and can play a unique role in exploring food and health issues that connect the cafeteria, classroom, and community. Here you will find a collection of resources including effective strategies to improve finances, meal quality and participation in school nutrition programs.

There are many innovative and exciting school meal programs across the state.  From Bristol to Burlington, Milton to Montpelier, Orleans to Saxtons River, school food service professionals are working with limited budgets and resources to serve up fresh, whole, and local foods to Vermont kids—and making sure no child in their communities is going hungry.  Providing school meals that are healthy, delicious, and nutritionally complete is the key to increasing enrollment and increasing participation in your school meal program.  Increasing participation is the key to keeping your school meal program financially strong and to improving students' health and ability to focus and learn.
